                     Tinuy-an: The Majestic Falls of Bislig City

 

Tinuy-an Falls or also famous for it's called The Little Niagara Falls of the Philippines. it is a wide multi-layered water curtain that is approximately 95 meters wide and 55 meters (180 ft) high and you can see that tinuy-an falls have three levels and the fourth tier is hidden from the view. The waterfall has been featured to various national TV shows. Did you know that Tinuy-an falls comes from the word tinuyo-an, a cebuano word which means "intentional act or performance to attain its objective or goal." it can also be translated in Filipino context as Balik-balikan which means "a place you'll keep going back to".

It is fun to visit Tinuy-an fall because there so many things to do. You can have a picnic because there are tables and cottage for rent. Aside from that you can also do trekking to the top of the view as long as you have your guide with you, and the fun part is you can swim and try to ride a bamboo raft where the water fall and it is said that it feel you've been massage.

Tinuy-an Falls is located at Barangay Burboanan, Bislig City, Surigao Del Sur. approximately 18 kilometers from the city proper

It is revealed that long before, a settlers of Mount Magdiwata were enslaved by the cruel tribesmen from the hinterlands of Agusan. They were mistreated and forced to do hard manual labor. Tired of this maltreatment, this brave natives created a plan to be free from the cruelty. Then one day, this natives  hides from the bush waiting for the opportunity while their masters were rowing the gakit or known as bamboo raft, and right before their eyes they suddenly jumped off and grab the chance while their master were in still shock in the sudden movement and the tribesmen intentionally shoved the raft towards the waterfalls killing all their vicious master. And alas! they achieved the freedom that they longed for.

How to get there 🚘🚍🏍

📍 From Butuan Bus Terminal, ride a van or bus route to Mangagoy (P300)

📍 From Mangagoy Bus Terminal, ride a tricycle and ask the driver to bring you to Barangay Cumawas, then tell the driver to drop you off to Cumawas Terminal (P20)

📍 And from there you can ride a single motor or umbak going to Tinuy-an falls (P150)

📌Entrance: P50

📌Cottage rent: available for P300, P500, P1000 round table is also available for P100

📌Bamboo Raft: P150


Recommendation: 

📎 It's better to rent a van if you're outside from Bislig City to avoid any hassle and avoiding the drivers who were taking advantage from asking a high price for fare.

📎 Foods are available but its better to bring your own food because the food their might be costly.

📎 Bring mosquito repellent!!!

🅧 If you're a tourist, please avoid wandering in the woods without your guide you might be loss.

🅧 Avoid diving in the waterfall!!! don't swim near the waterfall without life jacket

🅧 Don't throw your garbage everywhere.
