Visit The Wonders of Barobo, Surigo Del Sur

Let's take another trip to visit one of the cleanest fresh water in Surigao Del Sur. Barobo is lately the visited municipality when it comes to summer season because of its cold water aside from its beaches. Bogac Cold Spring, Bogac or also known in visayan language as bogwak which means flow. This spring became the source of water to the early settlers of Barobo. This place has been featured countless times in national media. Bogac Cold Spring has been used as a training ground for Barobohanon, local swimmers of the area. Most children has been taught on how to swim here.

When I first saw the place, I was in awe because of how the place was so green. Yes, I grow up in province but it was my first time to witness a place full of green. from trees, down to the ground and to the dazzling clear water. The reflection of the trees became the reason why the water is green. Most of my visited tourist attraction is mostly develop but here in Bogac, you can see the place is already developed but you can sense that it stays from what it looks like in the past though the place is equipped for the safety of the visitors.

From Bogac Cold Spring to Beto Lagoon, it is a small lagoon with an enchanting blue-green water and  it is only a walking distance from the cold spring. This place is not ideal for tourist who wants to swim but it is suitable for relaxing because there is a small cafe near the lagoon. If you are planning to visit and stay in the cafe bring your own insect repellent. The Local Goverment Unit (LGU) and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) of Barobo has been actively checking the area to avoid any drowning accident because it is still unknown how depth is the water.

How to get there?
  • from Butuan, ride a bus or van going to Barobo
  • from Bus terminal, hire a tricycle to Bogac Cold Spring.
